4 Tips on Creating an Eye Catching Cover Letter

Posted

If you think a dynamic cover letter is little more than a formality, you are sorely mistaken. It is more than an extension of your resume. A cover letter is a chance to personally reach out to the hiring manager and explain why you are the best person for the job. If you are able to state a compelling case, there’s a better chance you’ll be called in for an interview and become one step closer to getting  your desired job! The following are a few tips to help you write an impressive, eye catching cover letter.

4 Tips to Write a Dynamic Cover Letter

Make it Personal

No one wants to read a generic cover letter that could be applicable for any job at any company. Take the time to write a personalized cover letter for each job. For an added touch, try your best to find the name of the hiring manager and address it directly to them. Sometimes it’s the little things that make the strongest impression.

State Your Value

Explain why your skills and experience would be an asset to the company. When possible, use specific examples to describe what you can do for the organization. While hiring managers are interested in your passions and desired career development, they are looking for the value you can bring to the position. Ensure that your focus is on the company.

Share Your Enthusiasm

Use a few sentences to praise the company and explain why you admire the organization. Hiring managers want someone on their team who is truly passionate about the brand, so make it clear that you really want this job ─ not any open position you can get.

Keep it Short

Hiring managers typically receive dozens of applications for each open position. They usually don’t have the time to read an especially long cover letter. Sell yourself in a few short paragraphs to ensure they read your cover letter in its entirety.
